Valentine's Day Treats

Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow! Today I am sharing some yummy recipes that are super easy to make for a fun Valentine's Day treat! First I made these red velvet cupcakes from a box mix they are delicious and super easy! I made an easy homemade cream cheese frosting to top them with. You can find the cupcake mix here.


Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe
Ingredients -
8 oz cream cheese, room temp
8 Tbsp. butter
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions - 
Put cream cheese in mixing bowl on low for about 30 seconds to soften.
Gradually add in butter.
Add in confectioners' sugar.
Add vanilla.
Let mix until very smooth.
 

The other treat I made were these great sugar cookies! My mom gave me this recipe and it is seriously the best they are perfectly fluffy and delicious.

Sugar Cookies
Ingredients - 
1/3 cup salted butter
1/3 cup butter flavored crisco
2 cups flour
1 egg
3/4 cup sugar
1 Tbsp. milk
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
dash salt

Directions - 
Put butter and crisco together in mixing bowl, mix on medium speed for 30 seconds.
Add 1 cup flour (half of the flour), the egg, sugar, milk, baking powder, vanilla, and salt. Mix on medium speed until thoroughly combined.
Add in remaining flour and finish mixing.
Remove dough from the bowl using a spatula and place in plastic wrap. Place dough in the fridge for 2-3 hours.
Roll out cookies - I used this cute cookie cutter, because it has a grip and is easy to use.
Preheat oven to 375 and bake cookies for 7 minutes.

Buttercream Frosting Recipe
Ingredients - 
1/2 cup butter softened
4 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 tsps. vanilla
6 Tbsp. milk

Directions -
In mixing bowl mix butter on medium speed until creamy.
Mix in confectioners' sugar, vanilla, and milk.
Mix until you obtain desired consistency.
